And that religious fundamentalism accused them of carrying out satanic practices? Although Freemasonry is surrounded by an aura of mystery, its history is marked by the presence of some of the most outstanding figures of the last centuries, such as Churchill, Disney, Mozart, Franklin or Kipling. Founded in London in 1717 with the clear purpose of promoting fraternity among men, the Order expanded rapidly. Associated with secrecy, the common public does not know what they do in their meetings or "tenidas" do they perform orgies, satanic ceremonies or decide the future of the world? Demonized and persecuted by both the Church and the political powers, to this day it continues to arouse a morbid curiosity based on half-truths, ingrained prejudices and insidious propaganda. Under George Washington it became an integral part of the identity of the new American nation. Both the First International and the League of Nations have some Masonic roots, but so did the French Revolution or the American Revolution. For Hitler, Mussolini and Franco, Freemasonry represented an absolute obsession, they sought to crush these networks and their members, whom they perceived as devil worshippers.
